La Costa del Sol

Situated on the south of the iberian peninsula, it goes along the coast of Malaga province and enjoys an excellent climate which is an important factor for outdoor living, thanks to the more than three hundred sunny days a year and its mild temperatures during the winter season, as the pre-coastal mountain range protects  it from the cold winds coming from the central Spanish plains. The winter visitor can also enjoy skiing in Sierra Nevada (Granada), only an hour and a half away by car.

Another remarkable touristic asset is the existence of protected natural spaces. This immense richness of Malaga province does not only constitute a demand in intself, but it is also a consolidated tourist offer nowadays, with no doubt a great future. If we are talking about communications, the Costa del Sol has a wide range of well taken maintained roads, as well as A7 motorway, that crosses the province of Malaga and takes the motorist to Granada province. Its rail infrastructures have been incremented with the arrival of the AVE (high speed rail) to and from María Zambrano Railway Station, in the heart of Malaga city. The Costa del Sol stands amongst the three main areas related to sun and beach tourism and the visitors that do not interest themselves about it, can enjoy our inland areas, finding lovely towns such as Ronda, Antequera, Frigilana and many others, where the increasing offer of rural tourism is consolidated in shires such as Serranía de Ronda, Axarquía and Guadalhorce Valley. The eastern coast area comprehends the shire of La Axarquía, that goes from Rincón de laVictoria (just outside of Malaga city) until Nerja, which borders Granada province. It has gone through an important raise when it comes to hotels and touristic apartments and villas, especially Nerja that is the most outstanding touristic town in the whole  Axarquía, overtaking other towns that were more focused into residential tourism. Therefore, we can say that the eastern coast has concentrated its efforts towards international tourism as well as the residential one not forgetting the family ambience that the holiday makers appreciate and keeping the typical andalusian urban look. As mentioned before, the excelent climate that our part of the country enjoys, poses an outstanding role in the residential tourism consolidation, which is other great factor in wealthness, not to say the most important in Malaga province.

Another factor which makes us outstand from other sun and beach touris destinations is that we have the greatest number of golf courses in a short distance in Europe. For example, in the scarce distance that separates Rincón de la Victoria from the area of Sotogrande, there are more than 40 golf courses of an excellent standard that add up to our touristic assets.  We must not forget another, nowadays, increasing kind of tourism that is related to health and well being, the sometime forgotten traditional spas, to which  the most modern and luxurious hotels have joined to offer the busy and stressed current way of life. The visitor can, as well as find the perfect atmosphere to get whole, enjoy themselves with other activities. Hotels with such services are increasing because of the current high demand.
